Random Tuesday Thoughts-Sick Kid Edition
If it’s Tuesday, this must be Random Tuesday Thoughts. It’s brought to you by Keelyat The Un-Mom. She really knows how to rock Tuesdays so go and check her out and tell her the Blue Monkey Butt sisters sent you.
Stacy
B woke up Sunday morning at 4am, came into our room and said, “My head hurts and I think I’m gonna throw up”. I’M AWAKE NOW! Thank goodness there was no vomit, but he was really sick. Poor kid, he had his last football game of the season that morning and he was too sick to play! He was really devastated. Today I brought him to the dr., y’know, just in case it was the flu or something that would require medication. Of course it’s not, and it’s not like you can get your co-pay back. For once I’d like to say, “well since you really didn’t do anything different than I’ve done, and you didn’t give me any new advice, can I please have my co-pay back?” I’ve already done the fluids, rest, vaporize, rest, and gave Tylenol. Her advice for me was to keep him home for the whole week. Now I’d really like my money back now please.
Before we got to the doctors I told B that he shouldn’t play with the toys at the office. He said, “don’t worry I’ll use germ x when I’m done”. I said, “no honey you shouldn’t play with them because your germs could get other kids sick”. This was his response, “well they will be at the doctors”. Kinda like, duh, they’ll play with the toys, and already be at the doctor’s to get fixed.
Another one of his random thoughts this week was about Halloween. He said, “wouldn’t it be funny if Mimi and Poppa went trick or treating?” That is what he calls his grandparents (mine and Elle’s parents). I said, “no honey they’re too old to go trick or treating.” To which he said, “Yea well they can go as old people“.
I decided to color my hair dark last week. After I was done B said to me, “Mom, are you dressing up as a witch for Halloween?” “No honey, why?” “Because now you look like one”. No doubt he’s my son.

This daylight savings crap is really kicking my butt. The past 2 nights I’ve gone to bed before 9 pm. That’s crazy early for me. Next thing you know I’ll be cruising the Early Bird specials at local restaurants, yelling at kids to get off of my lawn and banging on the windows at the squirrels on my bird feeder.
J-Man isn’t big on physical activity, being more of a video game kid. Consequently he doesn’t get hurt very often. He was at a birthday party at a bounce place recently and got a friction burn under his chin. It scabbed up for a few days and then I notice it was gone. I asked him how it was and his response was “It’s better because the crispy thing fell off.” Okay, um…ewwwwwwwww.
We went trick or treating in a different neighborhood this year. There was the obligatory super scary house where a guy chased people with a chain saw and people popped out of a cemetary. Then there was the weird neighbor lady house. She had tricked out her front porch as a disco and she was dressed like some chick from the 70’s. When the kids went up she wouldn’t give them any candy until they danced. Ya, J-Man doesn’t dance especially for some random weird woman. She finally gave them some candy and when we left he said “That lady was scarier than the chainsaw guy.” Yes, yes she was. I’m just glad she’s not my neighbor.
Don’t forget to join us for some What The Hell Wednesday fun tomorrow!

Stumble it!

It usually takes me a couple of weeks to get over the time change.
Have a great rtt!

Now that I think about it maybe the time change is why we fell asleep at 8:30 last night. What? We’re old.
When I was a kid my dad would trick or treat our neighborhood for booze.
Andrea
zzz..Sorry I fell asleep. Time change sucks. Little one thinks 5:30 is an awesome time to start singing Mommeeeee!
Did you ask him where the crispy thing fell off at? That could be grosser, especially if he doesn’t know….
When I do anything to my hair all I get is red. Makes no sense even when the box is dark brown!

Stacy: My six year old has the flu right now, between the copay, the out of pocket for the swab test to determine it was flu, and the cost of prescriptions we’re out nearly $200. That could definitely use a WTH? Possibly a WTF? The F standing for French…
You’ve got to love a child’s ability to be so brutally honest. Love, hate, I guess it’s a fine line.
Hope your son feels better soon.
Elle: Daylight savings messes me up every season, springing forward, falling back, it all sucks and leaves me sleepy and confused…wait, that might just be the narcotics, nevermind.
Haha. Scabs are so crispy. Yuck.
Casey
Hah, they could go as old people. I love it.
I’m so over DST. I’m starting a petition to do away with it, you guys want to sign it?
Stephanie@The Blue Zoo
The only good thing about DST was that my husband forgot about it. So he went to work an hour early. Hahaha! He totally desreved it, see, karma always gets ya!
Anne
Stacy, don’t get me started on the doctor. I am surprised you got access to the toys. When my daughter was sick with flu-like symptoms, they made us sneak in the back with masks and we weren’t allowed to touch anything. I hope you get back to work soon, you could probably use the break.
Elle, I hope you adjust to day light saving soon. I hate how it screws up everyone’s timing. I agree with Andrea, you might want to try to locate the scab (ewwwww).
Stacy (the Random Cool Chick)
Stacy - I hear ya on the doctor’s office. At Princess Nagger’s doctor, they have 2 separate doors - one for the ’sick’ kids and one for the not. Of course the toys are all on the not sick side…but do the sick kids stay on their side of the room? Of course not! They want to play with the toys! I love how your son reasoned about why it was OK!!
I hate being forced to go to the doctor so they can tell me what I already know…and can’t do anything for me. They shouldn’t charge for those visits, really.
Hope your son is feeling better soon!
Elle - DST really sucks pond water. While I love to gain that hour in the fall, it messes me up because then I’m staying up an hour later, but not getting up an hour later because I still wake up too early. I really hate when they steal it back in the spring, because the adjustment is even worse.
