I don’t know about you, but just when I sit down to relax, or read or do something myself, the kids appear out of nowhere, and need something. A drink, a snack, help, anything! Where do they come from, and how come they know Mom sat down?
Have you ever noticed that when you really have a craving, something happens and you can’t get it? Like you want a certain kind of donut, and of course they’re out. Or you want a White Hot Chocolate, and the machine is broken down. Murphy’s Law!
I always end up going to the grocery store for ONE particular item. I end up coming home with 15 OTHER items, and guess what! I forgot the original item I went to the store for in the first place!
If you mop your floor, the next thing that’ll happen is either (a) child will come walking through the door with muddy, wet sneakers, (b) dog will either pee/poop or throw up, or (c) you will spill some sort of sticky liquid all over your clean floor!
If I let someone go in front of me in traffic, I EXPECTa wave. Y’know, I did a kind gesture, the least you can do is wave and say thank you! I need to be thanked, I actually get mad if someone can’t be bothered to wave thank you. I mean, I didn’t HAVE to let you go, I was being nice, now I’m all mad yelling like a crazy woman, “YOU’RE WELCOME JACKASS!”

Sissy is in the school play today and is so nervous and excited. She had to be at school by 8am to get ready for the 9am curtain call. Just after 8, the phone rang and I saw it was the school and knew it was Sissy.
Sissy: Mom, did you pack my costume?
Me: Yes, it’s in your backpack. Didn’t you look inside it?
Sissy: No, I just thought I forgot it.
I think she meant that she thought her mother forgot it. This was the costume that she told me she needed for last Friday’s dress rehearsal. She told me Friday morning just minutes before the bus came and I had to work that day. Why do kids always wait until the last minute to tell you what they need? We’ll go to the play tonight and tomorrow night and then we’ll have one exhausted young lady.
Last night I made a New England Boiled dinner and my husband made a split pea soup out of the stock and the ham bone. Can I just say gross!? Besides being disgusting, pea soup always makes me think of The Exorcist. It smelled really awful while he was cooking it and even he had to admit that it smelled pretty bad. He said it looked like boiling green slime with bones in it. Yum! This morning the smell is still lingering and every time I open the fridge I get a fresh cold waft of it again. Blech! So we have like 8 containers of this smelly soup and he’s the only one who will eat it. I’m wondering what people will say at work when they smell his lunch today.

Stumble it!

I think children come with some innate sense that makes the sound of Mom sitting down reverberate through their skulls.
I hate it when I let people in and they don’t wave. Or send me flowers. I expect one or the other, people!!
I’m interested to know how many google searches you get now after mentioning pea soup and the Exorcist. My little mommy blog got a whole bunch of hits after I titled a post “Linda Blair wants her pea soup back”. I can’t believe people are still googling that?

My kid will be totally silent for 2 hours but the second I get on the phone BAM. Mooooommmmm! I’m blah blah blah for twenty straight minutes. I hang up and it’s back to silence.

The traffic thing gets me every time. Why don’t people wave or smile or anything! I also look like a dork since I mouth “thank you” while simultaneously rolling down the window to wave. Oh, and the people who don’t say thank you when you hold the door for them. Now I’m angry, thanks!

OMG… The ungrateful Fer’s are my pet peeve while driving… especially if they jump in w/out blinkers, I’d rather you slap me in the face (trying to tone it down… hehehe.. My husband laughs at me, but It boils my nuts…
