I had been wearing a pedometer on my pants pocket for a couple weeks and getting discouraged with how few steps I take during the day. Then one day while I was working around the house I realized the damn counter hadn’t changed in an hour. Apparently I walk like Frankenstein with no hip action at all. I moved the pedometer to my shoe and then it started counting all my steps. The problem with having it on my shoe is the damn thing always falls off. One day last week I drove out of the garage and stopped in our driveway to get the mail out of the mailbox. I always set the emergency brake because our driveway slopes down to the road. As I got out the pedometer caught on the door and fell just under the truck. As I stood there looking at the damn thing realizing I was going to have to reach under the truck to get it, my thought was “If this was a horror movie then as soon as I reach under the truck it will start to roll forward and run over me.” I’m so glad I survived my brush with horror movie death.

The greatest invention at this time is the electric blanket. Okay, maybe not the absolute greatest ever, but it is pretty damn nice to be all warm and toasty every night! Although it makes it really hard to get up in the morning!

I think I’m allergic to the new place. First I lost my voice, and now my sinuses are all stuffed up. I don’t know if it’s allergies or that I got sick at the same time, but it’s ridiculous. I spent all day Sunday vacumming the vents and washing them in hopes that there was too much dust and me removing it would help me. So far it hasn’t.

I wonder if Elle is typing her RTT as I am typing mine. My screen keeps jumping all weird. I don’t think that’ll be a good thing if she is…..someone’s post will not save

I joined a couple Freecycle groups in hopes of scoring some free furniture. Let me just tell you, if you join any of these groups, don’t choose to get individual emails when people post stuff. Your email will just fill up completely! And if you’re one of those people who gets email notifications on your phone….well, prepare for it to go off like every 5 minutes!!

Giant Maxi Pad Randomness

Last week I was all stressed out because of an email I received from our host telling me that we were in violation of their “Terms of Service“. After lots of stress, emails back and forth, headaches and frustration it turns out that we were never in violation of any “Terms of Service”! No, just some other sites that use them were targeted by spammers and they wanted us to make sure we weren’t. Ugh!! Why couldn’t they have just said that in the first email, not the 4th and after hours of me trying to figure out an issue that was totally unfigureoutable because there wasn’t any issue to begin with! Apparently we have used the word viagra a few too many times. Who knew?

Yesterday I went to the doctor because I’m still having issues from my slip and fall on the ice from January 2nd. I can tell I have a pinched nerve and I’m not sleeping well at all because of it. She poked the hell out of my upper shoulder. Each time, “does this hurt?’ was followed by a “Hell Yes That Hurts!!!!” Which was followed by even harder poking and more “Does this hurt?” Seriously! If it hurt a second ago and you’re poking even harder now, what do you think???? She finally diagnosed me with a strained rhombus muscle related to my fall. She said heat, massage and a chiropractor would be the best treatment.

At the store I picked up a package of a heat wraps. The directions said to not adhere it directly to your skin. I put it on the outside of my shirt and now it looks like I have a giant maxi pad accidentally stuck to the back of my shirt.

I think there might be a market for stickers that say “I know this looks like a giant maxi pad but it’s really a heating pad disguised as a giant maxi pad. Until they invent those stickers, I’ll be wearing more than one shirt.

Ya, I know this is late. It’s a long story.

Hmm.. Looks like Stacy is a no show once again.

Yesterday was my day off and I had planned on some housework, finally reading the latest Janet Evanovich book and some computer time before the kids got home from school. That was all before I checked my email. I had an email from the company that hosts our site and apparently we are “violating the terms of service”. If I can’t figure out the issue they can “suspend” our site. Fun times! I seriously have no idea what I’m doing so don’t be surprised if Blue Monkey Butt disappears off the face of the internet. Our mother will miss us anyway.

On the upside, I did receive an “official” email from the FBI stating that there was money coming to me from Nigeria and it was legit. Awesome! I could so use 65 million dollars right now! It was sort of odd that the wording of the email sounded a lot like the emails that come from Nigeria and the email address for Fed Ex was a hotmail account, but hey, the FBI said it was legit. I feel so much better about it now that I know it isn’t a scam. Glad that got cleared up.

Is it odd that I used the “Start Over” feature on our cable box on an episode of Phineas and Ferb? What? I hadn’t seen that one.

Mr. Barky McBarkypants is doing pretty well in his obedience class. It being his second class and all. The instructors did bring up the his spinning habit. When he’s excited or nervous he spins. They said as long as he can stop it isn’t a problem. If he can’t then it’s an OCD issue. All I need is a dog on Prozac. That would just be awesome. Maybe he could even have a doggy therapist. That wouldn’t be a waste of money at all.

Today I woke up with a runny, stuffy nose. Great, I’m sick again. This year has been ridiculous! I think I may have gotten sick once last year, this year it’s practically non-stop.

The Ambien Adventures continue. I may have to stop taking it. The thing is, I sleep so good, or at least I think I’m sleeping, and I feel rested, even if I am up talking, texting, emailing and saying super crazy things. It would probably make a funny YouTube video, although I don’t think I want everyone seeing me all messed up.

Did you know that there’s a Girl Scout Cookie App for Smart Phones this year? It tells you exactly where there is a Girl Scout Cookie Sale. I don’t know about you, but I’ve known for weeks, and have had my order in. Because really, the Mom’s selling the cookies sure let you know when they’re up for sale. You don’t need an app for that.

We finally got several inches of snow last week and my dogs are loving it. Me? Not so much. They love to go out, eat the snow then come in. About 30 minutes later they are barking to go out because they need to go from all the snow they ate. I let them out, they go, then try to eat more snow before I get them back inside. This cycle will repeat itself all day long. I try to stop them from eating snow which involves me yelling “Stop eating snow!” over and over. Then Toby will look at me and then sneak a huge bite of snow and run in the house. I can’t win. I’m hoping the snow will lose it’s appeal after a while.

Last night I planned on getting up early this morning and baking some cinnamon rolls for Sissy’s breakfast before school this morning. Okay, not homemade , Pillsbury does the heavy lifting, I put them in a dish and bake them and then frost them. It’s still a lot to do that early in the morning. But because someone was snoring I didn’t sleep very well. I didn’t get up as early as I planned, which turned out to be a good thing. Sissy also didn’t get up, even after I turned on her light. For the record, turning on the bedroom light in your teenage daughter’s room while she isn’t fully awake, totally ticks them off. Just sayin’ . So, in turn, Sissy didn’t come out into the kitchen until it was time for the bus. She didn’t have time to even look at the breakfast I did make, never mine eat it. She was pretty grumpy when she got on the bus. But since I didn’t get up early and make cinnamon rolls that she wouldn’t get the chance to eat, I was actually in a good mood. Funny how things work out.

I live in NH. I know I’ve mentioned that one before. Tomorrow is the NH Primary. And I cannot wait for the damn republicans to leave my state! They cause me to have to sit in traffic everywhere! I also cannot wait for Ron Paul to stop calling my house! He calls the house about 10 or so times a day! Guess what, I’m not voting for you because you’ve been harassing me and using up my answering machine! I know I’m suppose to care, but really it’s just a pain in the ass….just sayin’

I don’t think gas should be able to raise up 8 cents or more within a day, it sure doesn’t go down that much!!

Getting my 13 year old son an electric drum kit was really not a good idea.

Getting my 13 year old son an electric drum kit and him suddenly starting a band that wants to rehearse at my house…..REALLY not a good idea!!

Elle

Welcome to my world Stacy! I know all about electronic drums and bands practicing at the house.

We signed up Mr. Barky McBarky pants up for obedience classes at Lollypop Farm. We had the first class this past Sunday. It was just for us and we left him home. It was a lot more fun than I thought it would be. We learned how to use clicker training on dogs that were already pretty well behaved. We left with a homework packet and a clicker.

Apparently I left the homework packet too close to the edge of the table.

dog ate my homework

It’s pretty bad when your dog chews up his own homework!

The twins are going to be one on the 14th! I can’t believe how fast this first year has flown by.

We are also getting for DD, which is what the kids call her, to head down to Walt Disney World to start another semester in their College Program. (I think DD stands for Disney Daughter). This will be her third time in the program. She loves it there and I’m fairly certain she’ll be working for Disney when she graduates.

Looks like Stacy is a no show again.

It was so hectic getting ready for the big day right up until Christmas morning. Once we managed to get everything done, it was peaceful. We were up until 3:30 am on Christmas Eve wrapping the presents. Even though my husband had wrapped a bunch of stuff ahead of time.  Next year I think I’ll take time off before Christmas so I can get things done and not feel so incredibly stressed.

Everyone was happy with their gifts. Which is always nice. I haven’t heard anyone say “I’m bored” yet. J-Man got a Nintendo 3-DS with the new Super Mario 3D Land. He managed to beat the game in 3 hours. He took one look at my face after he told me and said “Don’t worry. Once you beat the game it unlocks a bunch of new worlds and new levels.” Phew. I was thinking  “So much for that game.”  His cousins call him a video game wizard and I guess he kinda is.

I came home for lunch today and poor J-Man has a horrible cough. He has been sick for 2 weeks and was doing better and now he is doing worse. and he is coughing like a seal. Hope it’s not croup. It’s crummy to be sick during vacation.

Now that Christmas is behind us, I’m anxiously awaiting any announcement about Disney Social Media Moms. I was so incredibly lucky to go last year and I’m hoping I’ll get to go in 2012. I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed until then. Hope I hear something soon.

Random Tuesday, Brought to you by Lack of Sleep

Stacy

I was trying to get onto my computer for the first time in a week to write my Random Thoughts, of course I could not get onto it, and had to restart the damn thing 3 times. I swear the boys download so much crap that when I finally kick them off of it, I cannot even get the thing to work!! I tried writing my RTT via my phone for the first time, but I got too aggravated with the touch screen. Apparently I kept touching it in the wrong spot.

This time of year makes me want to bake all sorts of goodies. Of course this time of year is so busy that I don’t have time to bake beautiful, yummy, creative treats! Honestly I would much rather spend hours baking than spend an hour making dinner. I hate cooking and everything that comes along with it. From planning meals, grocery shopping and then cooking…..ugh! Believe me, if I were independently wealthy I would have a personal chef. Oh and a maid to do all those dishes, that’s something I hate right up there with cooking.

I’ve decided this year that I’m not sending Christmas cards. I know, it’s rude and everything, but I don’t feel like sending a card that people are only going to eventually throw out. I never send cards for other occasions all year long, why start now for Christmas? I really don’t think anyone is going to care if I send any or not.

Going all day long with 4 or 3 hours of sleep is not really working for me. Obviously my sleeping pill is not working anymore. The lack of sleep gave it away.

Words with Friends is the best when you have to sit and wait somewhere. Seriously, it actually gives me patience. Now I don’t mind waiting at the Dr.’s office, etc. because I can play my turn.

Elle

We are doing something new here at BMB. Mondays we have been participating in Meow Monday, brought to you by the wonderful Anne from Small Town Mommyand her cat Oreo. In addition to pictures of our own cats, each week we will be featuring a cat from our local shelter, Lollypop Farm, as Pet of the Week. We are hoping to help some cats find their forever homes. If you know anyone in the greater Rochester, NY area, please let them know.

Stacy was complaining about her lack of sleep. This week I’m not going to be sleeping much at all. How else am I going to get everything done?

Tonight J-Man was complaining about school and his teacher. I told him she was just trying to help him be the best student possible. He said “It’s one thing to help me be the best student it’s another thing to force me to be the best student.

Sissy said something really funny during dinner this evening. Too bad I can’t remember what it was.

I spent the afternoon running errands and shopping with DD and finally got home at 6pm. I was verypleasantly surprised to find Sissy and my husband making dinner!!!! Yay! It was like an early Christmas present!

I bought some Christmas Hershey kisses today and Sissy was all excited to put them out in the holiday candy dish.

20111220-004354.jpg

She is definitely her father’s daughter.

Last week J-Man was helping me with cards. After he put the card in the envelope I told him to lick the edge of the envelope because there was glue on it. He looked at me and after a moment he said “That’s disgusting!”
I had to lick all the envelopes myself.

Stacy

So Lindsey Lohan posed naked for Playboy and everyone is all excited for it?  Seriously?  I hope they airbrushed her teeth…..have you seen her teeth??  With all the computer software available I’m sure she’ll look better than her most current mug shot.

Over the weekend I found out that my brother got engaged.  I told my youngest, this is the conversation:
“Your uncle got engaged this weekend.”  “What’s that mean?”  “It means he asked his girlfriend to marry him.”
“What did she say?”  “She said yes.”  “Are they having a baby?”  “No, just getting married.”  “Did he go to Jarod?”

Okay I changed my font color and now I can’t get it back to black.  It says black, but it’s not, obviously.

I stink at Words with Friends.  Well, I don’t stink, but the people I play against are ridiculous!  I think my bff could actually beat the Scrabble Queen.  She’s almost undefeated.  Don’t get me wrong, I like playing, but right now in the 9 games I have going on, I think I’m losing all of them.

If you ever have to get a new Sim card in your phone, download your contacts before you hand over your phone.  I had to get a new Sim card last weekend, and when I got my phone back all my contacts were gone!  Luckily he had given me back my old card and I was able to retrieve them.  He never even told me that was going to happen!

Elle

I’m one of Stacy’s 9 games of Words with Friends and yes, I’m beating her.

I took Sissy Christmas shopping yesterday. I don’t know about you, but it’s easier for us to  let her pick out some clothes on her own. Then we wrap them up and put them under the tree. At least she is getting something she is guaranteed to like and I have a happy girl that morning. I still get her some clothes on my own, but it’s always iffy. I was sitting in the dressing room of Lord & Taylor while she tried some things on and I almost fell asleep.

We got home from shopping and I checked the caller ID and saw we missed a call from someone called “Dummy Courses”. Okay, which made me wonder if they are classes for dummies, classes about dummies, or classes taught by dummies? I just might answer that phone call to find out.

Some publicist has my name mistakenly listed as Vonnie. Every e-mail they send me has the salutation “Hi Vonnie” which is funny since my email clearly has my name in it and it’s not Vonnie.

The Christmas decorations are slowly getting put up around the house. Last night I found out I need another string of white lights. I was sure I had some, but I can’t find them anywhere. The mantel looks sad without them.

Have you ever noticed that if you leave a little bit of cereal and milk in a bowl for a few hours, that cereal will be cemented to the bowl? Seriously, I don’t know what they put in sugary cereal, but whatever it is, when it comes in contact with milk and a bowl, turns into industrial strength glue.

I went Christmas shopping today with my parents. It was a nice afternoon, and we found everything we needed. (Thanks Mum!) I looked for some party dresses because I have a few parties to attend this month and next. And I found two dresses each marked down to $14.99 each, and I had a $10 coupon! So $19.99 for two dresses that would of cost $140.00! Awesome deal! Yeah for JC Penney!

Kittens and Christmas trees don’t mix well.

Kittens and Christmas decorations don’t mix well.

Kittens and Christmas lights don’t mix well.

Kittens and wires, and plants, and people food, and trash, and hair elastics, and toliet paper rolls, and legos, and earrings, and anything glass, and anything fragile, and anything made out of tuna, and toys, and pens and anything you don’t want them to get into……don’t mix well.

Elle

Every year we go to a local tree farm and choose the most beautiful tree we can find to be our Christmas tree. Every year it’s one of the traditions everyone looks forward to the most. But every year we all seem to have selective amnesia. Going out on a snowy day and walking in a hushed forest full of evergreens to find your perfect tree is the stuff Christmas carols and cheesy holiday movies are made of. We fall for it every year. On reality it’s usually bitter cold with a wind that sucks the holiday spirit right out of you. We can never unanimously agree on the right tree. It’s too big, it’s too small, it’s too skinny, it has a bare spot and the list goes on and on. Each child wants to be the one to be the tree picker outer and that leaves someone with hurt feelings. It would be easier to broker Mid-East peace than it is to keep the peace between the wanna-be tree pickers. By this point we are all so cold and grumpy we just pick any tree, cut it down as fast as we can and drag it to the car. By the time it is tied to the roof we all nearly frostbitten and noses are running. Instead of choruses of Oh Christmas Tree we get choruses of I’m cold, I’m freezing, I’m tired and when are we going to be done?

This year was a little different. We don’t usually cut our trees down until this coming weekend but this past Sunday it was almost 60 degrees out! We were able to take our time and pick out the perfect tree. J-man found the tree and said “I don’t think I’ve ever picked out the tree.” After some debate and a little more looking that’s the one we went with.

What do you think the odds are of Stacy showing up for RTT?

I’m seriously lacking in the random department this week. I know, how hard can it be? It’s just random crap. Apparently a lot harder than it sounds.

Last week in my What the Hell Wednesday post I said how I never go out shopping on Black Friday. I never have, but I broke my hard and fast rule this year. No, I didn’t get in any fights, pepper spray anyone to get a deal or stand in line for hours. That pepper spray lady took it a little too far. Seriously.

In the mail I received a coupon from Lord & Taylor for $20 off if you spend $40. Plus a coupon for 20% off on top of that. I had to work on Friday anyway and the mall is like 5 minutes from my house and Lord & Taylor is never that busy so I did go. I was in and out in about 15 minutes with a couple of nice presents for Sissy. Then Friday night, Lord & Taylor posted on their Facebook page that they were giving out that same $20 for $40 coupon instore on Saturday for the first 500 customers starting at 7am. Guess who was one of the first 500 customers. This time I dragged my husband along so he was able to get a coupon also. I ended up spending $56 on myself on items that would have been over $300 originally. If you add that to day before when I spent $24 on items that were originally $144, my total was $70 for over $450 worth of merchandise. I love bargains! Plus I was able to get some much needed fall clothes for myself. I’m all about saving money.

Stacy

Wow, she’s even taking bets on whether or not I make it?  Damn

I’ve become addicted to Words With Friends.  I downloaded it on my phone, and now I can’t stop playing it!  I have like 7 games going right now!

Tonight I went to wash my windshield in my car, and I realized that I am out of windshield washer fluid.  Actually I think I ran out of that a year ago.  Maybe last December I actually had some in my car.  Kinda funny that I still go to wash my windshield.

That made me think of something somewhat related, but this is random so technically it doesn’t have to be.  Anyways, I don’t believe in car washes.  Well, I do, but not for me.  I figure it’ll rain eventually, why do I need to spend $8 or more washing my car.  I’m sure if I paid my kids $1 one of them would spray it down with the hose!
